A flail mower is a powered garden or agricultural equipment that attaches to a three-point hitch on the back of most tractors. Unlike traditional rotary mowers that use a single blade to cut grass, flail mowers use a series of blades or flails that rotate rapidly to chop vegetation into small pieces.

The flail is mounted on a horizontal shaft and is powered by the tractor's PTO (power take-off) system. For a PTO-driven flail mower, the mower typically gets power from the PTO through a gearbox and belt drive and transmits power to a drum with blades.

The number of belts on a flail mower affects how efficiently power is transmitted from the tractor to the mower. The higher the horsepower of the tractor, the more belts are required to make the power transmission more even and reliable.

For the flail mowers we currently produce, we will match the corresponding number of belts for different horsepower tractors to achieve the best mowing results. For example, some of our EF series mowers have two belts and some have three belts. Other heavier-duty flail mowers are even equipped with four belts.
